Hematite, Drilling Grade

Drilling-grade hematite powder is a high-performance weighting material for drilling fluids, produced by deep processing of natural hematite concentrate.

Product Introduction

Drilling-grade hematite powder is a high-performance weighting material for drilling fluids, produced by deep processing of natural hematite concentrate. Its main component is iron(III) oxide. The product is in a reddish-brown powder form and has extremely high density and excellent acid stability. It is specifically used to formulate drilling fluid systems that can withstand extreme wellbore pressures. Compared to conventional weighting agents, this material can achieve the target density with a lower solid content addition, thereby providing a crucial guarantee for maintaining the rheological stability of the drilling fluid under high-pressure conditions. It is a special basic material for deep and ultra-deep well drilling operations.

Main purpose

The primary function of this product is to serve as a weighting agent in an ultra-high density drilling fluid system, used to balance the pore pressure of deep abnormal high-pressure formations, prevent blowouts and maintain the mechanical stability of the wellbore. When encountering high-pressure oil and gas reservoirs, salt mud layers or narrow pressure windows in the formation, conventional materials cannot meet the density requirements. Hematite powder achieves a significant increase in drilling fluid density through its physical properties, while controlling the viscosity level of the system to ensure wellbore safety. Moreover, its acid resistance enables it to be used in formations rich in acidic gases, making it a strategic engineering material for drilling complex deep reservoirs.
