Tannic acid solution, also known as sodium tannate, is prepared through a chemical reaction between organic weak acid tannin and caustic soda (NaOH). This mixture is extracted under high temperature conditions and then undergoes a series of steps such as acidification to finally separate sodium tannate.
Main purpose:
The main function of tannin alkaline solution is to serve as a diluent for anti-salt and anti-calcium dispersible drilling fluids. It reduces viscosity and shear force by weakening the flow resistance between clay particles, and inhibits the hydration expansion and dispersion of shale, thereby facilitating wellbore stability.
